This is the reslut of oxidation ( a form of chemical weathering)
The way rocks break down by chemical reactions
Mechanical Weathering
This is ice wedging a part of mechanical weathering
The procsess where rocks break down by physical movment
Abrasion
Abrasion is a type of mechanical weathering. It is when one substance is "hitting" against another. The picture to the left shows the waves crashing down and hitting the rocks. That is one of the types of abrasions. Another type is when one rock will rub on top of another and slowly weather the rock away.
Acid Precipitation
Rain, snow, sleet, hail etc. holding a certain amout af acidic material.
Exfoliation
Exfoliation is the process in which rocks weather by peeling off in sheets.
